TRIESTE – New orders in the cruise sector for Somec. The San Vendemiano group, based in the province of Treviso and specialised in civil engineering and ship outfitting, has acquired two new contracts worth a total of €54 million for the supply and installation of glazing systems on seven newly built cruise ships.
The orders were awarded most likely by Fincantieri, although it is not officially mentioned in the note, and concern units destined for two major international cruise companies. The first contract, worth €44 million, provides for the production and installation of glazing systems for the balcony areas of the cabins on five new ships. The second, worth around €10 million, concerns the glazing of public areas on two other units.
Operational activities will start in 2027 and end in 2036, with revenues distributed over the entire execution period of the orders.
With these new contracts, the total value of orders acquired and disclosed to the market by Somec in the first half of 2026 exceeds €330 million. The result includes the contribution of the group’s three divisions: Horizons, Talenta and Mestieri.
«Having announced to the market orders worth more than €330 million in the first half alone is a tangible sign of the quality of our positioning and of the depth of international demand in the different areas in which we operate», said Somec chairman Oscar Marchetto.
Marchetto also stressed that, despite the still complex geopolitical context, the cruise sector continues to invest with a long-term perspective. «The international cruise industry continues to express a truly significant investment capacity and a long-term vision, confirming development potential that translates into concrete, multi-year programmes».
