TRIESTE – Adria Port has signed a partnership with Rail Cargo Hungaria to consolidate traffic flows between Trieste and Central Europe. Adria Port opened the spring with a new strategic agreement, signing a cooperation deal with Rail Cargo Hungaria to develop sea-rail logistics links between the port of Trieste and Hungary. Pending the construction of the new terminal in the former Aquila area (the southern part of the port), the agreement fits into a process already under way in recent months, marked by targeted partnerships aimed at strengthening the port’s role as a gateway for traffic bound for Central and Eastern Europe.

The collaboration is aimed first and foremost at strengthening rail connections between Trieste and the Hungarian market, with the objective of improving service frequency, capacity and reliability. Another central element of the agreement is the creation of a stable long-term cooperation framework designed to strengthen Central European supply chains. The deal was signed by Rail Cargo Hungaria chief executive Imre Kovács, together with chief financial officer Csaba Raisz, and by Adria Port CEO Péter Garai.
