TRIESTE – KTZ Express (KTZ – Kazakhstan State Railways) and Rail Cargo Austria have signed a Memorandum to enhance the Trans-Caspian route and expand their logistics cooperation.
At the headquarters of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC in Astana, a meeting was held between the management of KTZ Express, the national railway company “NC KTZ” JSC (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy), and an Austrian delegation led by Haubner, Vice-President of the National Council of the Austrian Parliament. The discussion focused on the prospects of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the growing role of regional logistics, and the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the Kazakh and Austrian railways. Several Austrian companies presented projects and expressed interest in investing in the transport and infrastructure sector of the region.
The main highlight of the day was the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between KTZ Express and Rail Cargo Austria AG, a company of the ÖBB-Holding AG (Austrian Federal Railways) group. The agreement aims to develop intermodal services along the TITR and jointly use ÖBB’s terminals and rail infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe. The document was signed on behalf of KTZ Express by Damir Kozhakhmetov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board, and on behalf of Rail Cargo Austria AG by Robert Heusmann, Head of Group Strategy at ÖBB-Holding AG. The agreement also includes the opportunity to develop new terminal capacity and assess the construction of additional logistics hubs in the region, in line with KTZ Express’s strategy to strengthen its presence in European markets and improve the efficiency of transit flows between Asia and Europe.
