TRIESTE – ENNA Transport is expanding its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe and is now launching operations in Hungary as well, strengthening its presence along one of the main logistics axes between the Adriatic and the Danube area.
The Group is Maersk’s partner in the new container terminal at the Port of Rijeka (Rijeka Gateway) and, after Slovenia and Serbia, in 2026 it is entering the Hungarian market operationally with ENNA Transport HU Kft. The company focuses on rail container transport. Its main route covers the Hungarian section of the corridor between Rijeka and Budapest, with a plan for gradual extension towards areas where the Group is already active.
On the Hungarian market, ENNA Transport will use latest-generation Vectron and Traxx locomotives, alongside a programme to expand and modernise its wagon fleet. The company was incorporated in February 2025. After obtaining its operating licence in August that year, on 12 January 2026 it received the Single Safety Certificate, enabling the effective start of activities as a railway undertaking.
The certificate was issued by the Railway Regulation Department of the Ministry of Construction and Transport, within Hungary’s national rail safety authority. It is the first certificate of its kind issued in 2026, making ENNA Transport HU Kft. the first rail operator in Europe to obtain it in the new year.
