TRIESTE – Zeno D’Agostino has resigned as president of Coselag, the Venezia Giulia Economic Development Consortium based in Trieste.

The former president of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, now heading the private company Technital, closes a chapter that has lasted many years, at a time when the port of Trieste is entering a new phase with the appointment of Marco Consalvo as president of the Authority.

During his mandate, Coselag operated in close interconnection with the port of Trieste, especially on industrial development, investment attraction and the relationship between productive activities and logistics platforms. A model that focused on integration between port, hinterland and the wider territory. Beyond the results achieved, the message has always been clear: bringing port and industry together for coordinated development of both.

D’Agostino’s departure comes at a time of transition for the local system. Marco Consalvo has recently taken office as the new president of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority and, as majority shareholder, he would normally be expected to take over the Coselag presidency.
In his first public statements, Consalvo has also indicated among his priorities the need to develop and strengthen relations between the port and local industry. A key step, according to the new president, to support the competitiveness of the port of Trieste, create added value and strengthen local production chains.

The change at the top of Coselag and the new course of the Authority therefore open a new phase for the Venezia Giulia port–industry system, with balances and relationships that will be central to strategic choices in the coming months.
In January, Coselag’s shareholders’ meeting will be held and by June the budget will need to be approved. At present, it is not known whether an interim president will be appointed or whether Consalvo will decide to also become Coselag’s president.
As of today, the board of directors remains in office with vice-president Sandra Primiceri (representing the Authority) and board members Santi Terranova (Municipality of Trieste), Antonio Maria Carbone (Municipality of Muggia) and Aleš Kapun (Municipality of San Dorligo della valle).
