TRIESTE – In the first nine months of 2025 Porto Marghera handled 18.4 million tonnes of cargo, marking a +2% compared to the same period last year.
Although with smaller volumes, Chioggia is also up (+7.2%), as reported by the Port System Authority, which released the statistics today. Overall, the two ports reached a total volume of 19 million tonnes.
Worth noting is the +9.8% in Teu (388,381) handled in the two container terminals of Porto Marghera from January to September, while Ro-Ro traffic is essentially stable with +0.5%.
Volumes of dry bulk remain stable and, despite the decrease recorded in Chioggia, reach overall more than 5.7 million tonnes. In particular, Venice shows a 111.3% increase in cereals, stable levels for animal feed and oilseeds (for a volume of over 1,155,000 tonnes) and a positive result of 20.6% (for a total of 1,667,898) in the minerals, cement and lime sector; a sector that pulls up the overall performance of the port of Chioggia, which handled 239,238 tonnes.
More than positive is also the passenger traffic which, although still far from the numbers Venice was once accustomed to, rises by 7.7% surpassing half a million cruise passengers, again considering the first nine months of 2025.
