TRIESTE – Fincantieri has signed a partnership agreement with Enra Energy Solutions to support the Malaysian Navy’s modernization program.

The agreement, announced during the LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition), marks a significant step in strengthening Malaysia’s naval industrial capabilities.

This technical cooperation agreement is aimed at contributing to the renewal of the Royal Malaysian Navy fleet. The “15 to 5” program seeks to streamline and modernize the Navy’s assets, with strong involvement from the local industry.

The partnership includes cooperation on the design and supply of next-generation vessels, including multirole ships and coastal patrol vessels. The objective is to enhance the operational efficiency of the Malaysian Navy in a region with strategic sensitivities.

Fincantieri will contribute its expertise in building complex technological platforms, as it already does for the Italian and U.S. navies. EES, which specializes in logistics and maintenance services, will help develop a domestic supply chain for Malaysia’s maritime defense sector.

“This partnership is part of Fincantieri’s broader strategy to promote long-term industrial collaborations with local entities in strategically important regions,” the company said in a statement.
“Southeast Asia is a strategic region for the future of the maritime defense industry. Our collaboration with Enra Energy Solutions is a concrete step toward building a strong industrial system in Malaysia that combines our global expertise with local excellence,” said Biagio Mazzotta, chairman of Fincantieri.
