TRIESTE – The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Fincantieri are ready to sign a new collaboration protocol to strengthen employment, training and innovation in the shipbuilding sector.

The regional government approved the draft agreement with resolution no. 914 of 26 June 2026, which will be signed on Thursday 2 July at 11.30 in the Sala Predonzani at the Region’s headquarters in Trieste. Regional councillor for Labour Alessia Rosolen and Fincantieri’s head of Human Resources, Luciano Sale, will take part in the presentation.

The agreement aims to support the development of specialist skills in the shipbuilding sector, promoting qualified employment and strengthening the link between the training system and industry. The instruments envisaged include the co-design and activation of ITS Academy pathways for the training of new higher technicians, with the support of the Region as the main funder of regional courses.

The protocol also includes initiatives dedicated to local welfare and services for workers and their families, with measures aimed at early childhood education services, summer centres, after-school activities, parenting support and supplementary school services. The planned actions also include the “Fincantieri for Community” programme, intended to support projects for social inclusion and cohesion, promotion of sport, enhancement of local identity and initiatives dedicated to younger generations.

Finally, the agreement establishes a permanent technical working group made up of representatives of the Region’s Central Labour Directorate and Fincantieri’s Human Resources Department, with the task of coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the initiatives provided for under the protocol.
