{"id":34542,"date":"2025-07-10T20:03:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T18:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/uncategorized\/new-rail-link-to-china-launched-from-duisport\/"},"modified":"2025-07-13T18:26:38","modified_gmt":"2025-07-13T16:26:38","slug":"new-rail-link-to-china-launched-from-duisport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/new-rail-link-to-china-launched-from-duisport\/","title":{"rendered":"New rail link to China launched from duisport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TRIESTE \u2013<\/strong> A new railway route has opened this week along the Silk Road between Europe and China.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>July 7, the first freight train between the Duisburg Gateway Terminal and the city of Chengdu<\/strong>, capital of Sichuan Province in southwestern China, was launched.<br \/>\nThe new connection to the fourth most populous metropolis in the People\u2019s Republic, presented in the presence of delegations from both countries, was made <strong>operational by RTSB<\/strong>, the group that just seven months ago reached the milestone of its 100,000th train between China and the DGT.<\/p>\n<p>The transported goods include \u201celectronics, German cars, European delicacies such as cookies, beer and wine, as well as pharmaceuticals and powdered milk,\u201d according to a post by <a href=\"https:\/\/duisport.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>duisport<\/em><\/a> on LinkedIn.<br \/>\nThere will be no stops at the borders: the service, designed to ensure <strong>consistent transit times and reliable scheduling, benefits from customs management coordinated directly by the terminal<\/strong>, allowing for uninterrupted cross-border transport.<br \/>\n\u201cThis train is more than just a means of transport: it is a symbol of reliability, partnership, and vision in international logistics, and it strengthens the future-oriented cooperation between Europe and Asia,\u201d commented <strong>Markus Bangen, CEO of duisport.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe initiative follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the port of Xi\u2019an and DB Cargo Eurasia, which in turn came after the first train to Xi\u2019an departed in January.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being the world\u2019s largest inland port, Duisburg is known for its strong connections throughout Europe. The news is also particularly relevant to <strong>Interporto Trieste, in which duisport holds a 15% stake<\/strong> and with which it has moved over 400 trains since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dgt-duisburg.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Duisburg Gateway Terminal<\/a> is focused on developing the enerPort II project\u2014an upgrade involving <strong>solar panels, fuel cells, combined heat and power units, battery storage systems, and smart control technologies<\/strong>.<br \/>\nHydrogen systems are also a key part of the plan and are <strong>already in operation<\/strong>, according to the Senior Vice President of Rolls Royce Power Systems AG.
