{"id":36457,"date":"2025-12-05T23:00:22","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T22:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/uncategorized\/interporto-verona-closes-2024-with-growth-in-rail-freight-traffic\/"},"modified":"2025-12-15T20:01:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T19:01:04","slug":"interporto-verona-closes-2024-with-growth-in-rail-freight-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/interporto-verona-closes-2024-with-growth-in-rail-freight-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"Interporto Verona closes 2024 with growth in rail freight traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\"><strong>TRIESTE &#8211;<\/strong> Verona\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quadranteeuropa.it\/it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interporto Quadrante Europa<\/a> confirms its weight in Europe\u2019s logistics and rail network with its 2024 freight figures: <strong>the year-end total reaches 14,574 trains<\/strong> handled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">Growth in intermodal traffic and the resilience of traditional services point to a system capable of sustaining significant volumes while ensuring operational continuity along the main continental corridors.<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> In detail, <strong>intermodal remains the terminal\u2019s engine: 12,908 trains<\/strong> moved during the year, equal to <strong>392,016 ITUs and a total of 701,708 <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">TEU<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"><strong> equivalent.<\/strong> Freight carried reached <strong>7,551,180 tonnes<\/strong>, confirming the Verona hub\u2019s role as a key platform for flows between Italy, Central Europe and the Mediterranean area.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Non-intermodal rail traffic also recorded measurable volumes: <strong>24,132 tonnes of conventional freight, 7,696 tonnes of new vehicles and 1,666 dedicated trains<\/strong>. A smaller component compared to the main segment, but one that completes the terminal\u2019s offering and reinforces its versatility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cf0\">With the 2025\/2026 timetable change, moreover, <\/span><strong><span class=\"cf0\">Kombiverkehr<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> will increase frequencies on direct services between L\u00fcbeck <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Skandinavienkai<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"cf0\"><strong> and Verona, rising from two to five weekly round trips per direction.<\/strong> The service will be transferred to the <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Interterminal<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> at Verona\u2019s freight centre.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"cf0\">On this route it will be possible to carry 30-foot containers and units with dangerous goods or waste originating from the Port of L\u00fcbeck, routed via Hamburg or Ludwigshafen. From Quadrante Europa, <strong>connections to Bari and Naples<\/strong> are planned, while flows from Sweden, Finland and the Baltic countries will be able to rely on ferry services followed by rail routing, as well as continental links to and from <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Alnabru<\/span><span class=\"cf0\"> via southern Sweden, with extensions towards <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">Hallsberg<\/span><span class=\"cf0\">, Stockholm and <\/span><span class=\"cf0\">G\u00e4vele<\/span><span
