TRIESTE –<\/strong> The State Police and the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority have signed in Trieste a protocol on the management of licence-plate recognition systems installed within the port area.<\/strong> The agreement was signed at Police Headquarters by the Authority\u2019s president, Marco Consalvo, the Chief of Police of Trieste, Lilia Fredella, and the head of the Maritime Border Police, Eddi Stolf. The system, already in operation at the port\u2019s main gates, is based on digital plate readers and cameras. It records vehicle movements in and out of the port and collects data useful for prevention, investigations and crime-fighting activities, including threats to public security.<\/p>\n

The agreement regulates the flow of information to the State Police\u2019s National Electronic Centre<\/strong>, enabling law enforcement to access data in real time and act more quickly and effectively. The project is funded by the Port Authority and developed with technical and operational support from the Police.
\nBeyond systematic access control, the system also contributes to urban security. Real-time visualisation of vehicles of interest in the operations rooms of Police Headquarters and the Border Police also makes it possible to monitor vehicles leaving the port area.<\/strong>
\nThe initiative aligns Trieste with practices already adopted in other major European ports, strengthening prevention and security levels in an increasingly complex national and international context.<\/p>\n
