{"id":36673,"date":"2025-12-22T19:10:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T18:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/uncategorized\/medway-and-rtc-authorised-to-operate-in-austria-as-well\/"},"modified":"2025-12-28T17:41:34","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T16:41:34","slug":"medway-and-rtc-authorised-to-operate-in-austria-as-well","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/medway-and-rtc-authorised-to-operate-in-austria-as-well\/","title":{"rendered":"Medway and RTC authorised to operate in Austria as well"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TRIESTE \u2013<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medway-iberia.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medway (MSC Group)<\/a> is stepping up its push into Central Europe with the launch of new rail services, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railtraction.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RTC (Rail Traction Company)<\/a> has been cleared to operate in Austria and Germany, ahead of the future start-up of the Brenner Base Tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>The main news is the launch of a <strong>new three-times-a-week service linking Linz and Wels with Trieste.<\/strong> The connection (not new for the port of Trieste) is operated by Medway Austria and Medway Italia and links Austria\u2019s industrial hinterland with the Friuli Venezia Giulia port. The service is designed to ensure continuity and reliability for north\u2013south flows and fits into the group\u2019s Medlog intermodal network.<br \/>\nThe new train is intended to serve sectors such as <strong>timber, paper, pulp, automotive and retail.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Medway has also launched a new service in France, expanding its geographic footprint. This is another piece completing the network, alongside the strengthening of the Austria\u2013Italy axis.<\/p>\n<p>On the rail undertaking side, a key step has meanwhile been reached by <strong>RTC.<\/strong> The company has obtained an extension of its <strong>Single Safety Certificate allowing cross-border operations in Austria and Germany.<\/strong> This opens up new operational and commercial opportunities.<br \/>\nAccording to CEO Martin Ausserdorfer, this is a historic milestone. The certificate extension\u2014together with the purchase of locomotives authorised for much of the European network and the training of drivers qualified for the Austrian territory\u2014<strong>concretely prepares RTC for the start-up of the Brenner Base Tunnel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The progress made by Medway and RTC confirms how the Brenner corridor and connections with the Adriatic are becoming increasingly central to European rail and logistics strategies\u2014an axis set to grow both in volumes and in integration among
