TRIESTE –<\/strong> Expectations were more or less in line with the figure confirmed in recent days by Trieste Marine Terminal: 2025 closes with 522,661 TEU handled.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is the worst result since 2016 for the operator of Pier VII, with container traffic down 28.45%.<\/strong> Still missing from the count are HHLA PLT Italy\u2019s figures and the TEU moved via Ro-Ro by Samer Seaports. These will be released in the coming weeks by the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority. It is hard to expect miracles, which is why the Port of Trieste will close 2025 well below the 841,867 TEU recorded the previous year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reasons are essentially the same already discussed over the past months on these pages<\/a>. MSC, the world\u2019s leading shipping line and the terminal\u2019s operator with an 80% stake, never replaced the direct Far East service previously provided by 2M, the alliance with Maersk that has now ended. The trend is the opposite at the other Northern Adriatic ports,<\/strong> where traffic picked up in the first half of the year. That recovery is expected to be broadly confirmed in the coming weeks, when the official end-of-2025 statistics are published. From Ravenna to Rijeka (Croatia), year-end TEU volumes are up, with different but consistently positive dynamics.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
