TRIESTE –<\/strong> The first element of the breakwater barrier that will protect the offshore regasification vessel off Ravenna<\/strong> has been launched.<\/p>\n

The launch took place on the morning of 20 February in the construction area on the Trattaroli peninsula at the Port of Ravenna<\/strong>. The prefabricated cellular caisson was built using the Kugira II floating dock. Once the works were completed, the dock was partially submerged to the required level to allow the structure to float and exit safely.<\/p>\n

Operations involved all of the port\u2019s technical-nautical services, under the coordination of the Ravenna Harbour Master\u2019s Office.<\/strong> After the launch, the caisson was taken in charge by two tugs and moored at Trattaroli East quay. In the next steps it will be towed offshore and laid on the seabed, where it will be sunk and ballasted.
\nThe breakwater will have a total length of 880 metres and a width of 22 metres. It will be built more than 8 kilometres from the coastline<\/strong> and will serve to protect the regasification vessel from heavy seas, ensuring operational continuity for the offshore plant.<\/p>\n

The planned investment is around \u20ac200 million.<\/strong> The works have been awarded to a consortium led by Rcm Costruzioni\u2014already involved in building the Trattaroli terminal as part of the Ravenna Port Hub\u2014with Spain\u2019s Acciona participating as a consortium member.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
