TRIESTE –<\/strong> The Luka Koper Group (operator of Slovenia\u2019s main port)<\/a> has released its final 2025 figures: strong growth in revenue and profit, new records in containers, and an investment programme set to accelerate in 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Consolidated net revenue reached \u20ac380.3 million, up 15% compared with 2024.<\/strong> Growth was mainly driven by higher container and car volumes, as well as increased storage revenue. Operating profit (EBIT) rose to \u20ac96.3 million, up 44% year-on-year. Net profit amounted to \u20ac81.5 million, +35% on 2024.<\/strong> The improvement reflects higher revenue, a stronger financial result and contributions from associated companies, despite higher operating costs due to new hires, performance-related bonuses and increased spending on energy and materials.<\/p>\n

\u00abAs a company, we have repeatedly demonstrated that we operate with a flexible port business model capable of managing fluctuations arising from changes in the economic environment. The commercial results achieved last year are even more notable considering they were delivered in the middle of an exceptionally intensive investment cycle, which entails numerous operational and procedural challenges for port activities\u00bb, said Nevenka Kr\u017ean, President of Luka Koper\u2019s Management Board<\/strong>, when the results were published.<\/p>\n

On volumes, the container terminal recorded +12%, reaching a new all-time record of 1,272,161 TEU.<\/strong> Growth was linked to new activities connected to supplying production facilities in hinterland markets and to the reorganisation of Far East and Mediterranean shipping services. The car and Ro-Ro terminal handled 914,817 vehicles, +3%<\/strong>, driven in particular by imports for Chinese carmakers and higher exports towards the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

General cargo and dry bulk volumes were slightly down<\/strong>, mainly due to lower iron ore. Total cargo throughput stood at 23 million tonnes, broadly in line with 2024.<\/strong> Despite modernisation works on Slovenia\u2019s rail network, the share of cargo moved by rail rose to 51%<\/strong>, confirming stronger intermodality.<\/p>\n

In cruising, 2025 closed with 80 calls and 123,928 passengers, just 1% lower than 2024.<\/strong> In May, the new passenger terminal was inaugurated, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the first cruise ship call in Koper.<\/p>\n

In 2025 the group invested \u20ac132.9 million, of which \u20ac42.9 million went to sustainability-related projects.<\/strong> For 2026, a further increase to \u20ac201 million is planned.<\/strong> Works continue on the new container quay and storage areas in the northern section of Pier I, as well as a multi-storey parking facility for 11,700 vehicles. By year-end, completion is expected for the automated steel coil warehouse and the new Berth 12 dedicated to project cargo, equipped with a vehicle ramp.<\/p>\n
