TRIESTE –<\/strong> Trieste Airport\u2019s cargo division has reactivated its connection to the Lufthansa network<\/strong>, once again offering worldwide air freight services via Frankfurt and Rome.<\/p>\n

Following the signing of a new contract between Trieste Airport and Lufthansa Cargo, the airport management company met local freight forwarders to present the latest developments in the cargo segment<\/strong> and relaunch cooperation with regional logistics operators.<\/p>\n

The meeting focused on the operational return of the Lufthansa Cargo network point in Trieste, which was closed during the pandemic and remained inactive until the end of 2025. Import operations resumed on 12 January, while export will restart on 1 March. This brings back the twice-weekly truck service\u2014technically a Road Feeder Service (RFS)<\/strong>\u2014between Lufthansa Cargo\u2019s Frankfurt Airport hub and the regional airport. Cargo handling on flights to Rome Fiumicino Airport and Milan Linate Airport is now coordinated by Lufthansa Cargo, enabling a more integrated offering and greater operational continuity.<\/p>\n

The German carrier\u2019s return allows operators in Friuli Venezia Giulia to once again ship and receive air cargo to and from anywhere in the world by leveraging the group\u2019s global network and its main hubs.<\/strong> For the region\u2019s production system, this reopens a direct channel to international markets, with lead times and service standards \u201cin line with the needs of high-value supply chains\u201d.
\nDiscussions with freight forwarders also covered the airport\u2019s competitiveness, the organisation of cargo activities and the development outlook for air cargo traffic. The stated goal is to strengthen the airport\u2019s role within the regional logistics system, in synergy with the port and the North Adriatic intermodal network.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
