{"id":37921,"date":"2026-03-09T20:13:24","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T19:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/uncategorized\/another-a4-accident-lorry-catches-fire\/"},"modified":"2026-03-14T20:04:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T19:04:38","slug":"another-a4-accident-lorry-catches-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/another-a4-accident-lorry-catches-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Another A4 accident: lorry catches fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TRIESTE &#8211;<\/strong> An articulated lorry and a tanker truck were involved this morning in an accident that occurred <strong>at around 11.20 a.m. on the A4 motorway, on the three-lane section between Meolo-Roncade and San Don\u00e0 di Piave heading towards Trieste.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The heavy vehicle, which <strong>was carrying phenol (a benzene-derived compound), rear-ended an empty CO2 tanker and overturned, also damaging the side barriers. Following the impact, the articulated lorry caught fire.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to initial reconstructions, the tanker had been stationary for several minutes in the emergency lane, <strong>probably because of a brake system problem.<\/strong> The articulated lorry approaching from behind, for causes still under investigation, struck the left side of the tanker with the right side of its cab and overturned, catching fire.<br \/>\nIn the crash, the vehicle tore out around ten metres of safety barrier. <strong>The driver, though only slightly injured, got out of the vehicle on his own<\/strong> and tried to put out the fire, which spread a few minutes later following the violent impact.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters, traffic police, the air ambulance and staff from Autostrade Alto Adriatico attended the scene. <strong>To allow rescue operations and safety measures on the crashed vehicles, the transfer of the hazardous load from the heavy vehicle and clean-up operations, the stretch of the A4 between Meolo and San Don\u00e0 was closed in both directions.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TRIESTE &#8211; An articulated lorry and a tanker truck were involved this morning in an accident that occurred at around 11.20 a.m. on the A4 motorway, on the three-lane section between Meolo-Roncade and San Don\u00e0 di Piave heading towards Trieste.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":37831,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[25],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-37921","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-logistics","et-has-post-format-content","et_post_format-et-post-format-standard"],"yoast_head":"\n<title>Another A4 accident: lorry catches fire - AdriaPorts<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Accident involving articulated lorry and tanker: one driver slightly injured.
