TRIESTE –<\/strong> By decree of mayor Luigi Toffolo, Corrado Don\u00e0 has been appointed member of the Board of Directors and chairman of Portogruaro Interporto Spa<\/a><\/strong>, with the appointment then formalized at the latest board meeting.
\nThe choice, the mayor explained, is based on the expertise Don\u00e0 has built up in the logistics and transport sector, at a stage when the inland terminal is being called on to consolidate its role as a strategic node for freight flows in northeastern Italy. Toffolo also thanked former chairman Antonio Favrin, who led the company for more than twenty years, guiding its development. Don\u00e0, who is also the company\u2019s chief executive officer <\/strong>(representing Autamarocchi, the private shareholder), pointed to the continuity of the company\u2019s economic performance, with 2025 closing in profit and revenues up 10%.<\/strong>
\nOn the operational side, the administrative phase of the first rail expansion package has been completed, providing for the construction of two 900-metre tracks. The detailed design is currently being validated,<\/strong> with works expected to begin shortly. The development guidelines had already been outlined by Don\u00e0 himself during a speech at LetExpo in Verona in recent weeks, where he set out a strategy focused on strengthening the rail component and integration with the regional logistics system.
\nAmong the measures indicated are the addition of a new Venice\u2013Portogruaro link, which will complement the route already active with Trieste<\/strong>, and the construction of support tracks in the area between San Stino and Latisana, serving the RFI (Italian Railway Network)<\/strong>. The aim is to increase traffic handling capacity, both in terms of volumes and train length,<\/strong> and to expand operational areas. The overall plan provides for stronger rail infrastructure built to European standards, the introduction of automated cargo-handling systems and digital platforms for managing logistics flows. The decision to focus on rail also responds to environmental needs, with the prospect of reducing road traffic and emissions. On the economic side, the expansion of the inland terminal is also expected to have positive effects on employment and on the area\u2019s attractiveness for new logistics and industrial activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
