TRIESTE \u2013<\/strong> The Management Committee of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, covering the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone, has approved the 2025 final accounts: a solid economic and financial position, with an administrative surplus of more than 277 million euros and a strong capacity to support infrastructure investments.<\/strong> The result, a note explains, confirms the resilience of the port system in a complex international context marked by geopolitical tensions and traffic volatility. Of these 277 million euros, around 266 million are restricted funds, largely earmarked to finance ongoing and planned works.<\/strong> Among the main indicators are a cash balance of more than 345 million euros and a current-account result of around 24.5 million euros, up 8% compared with 2024 and more than 150% compared with 2022<\/strong>. These resources will be fully allocated to covering unfunded investments. Current revenues exceed 76 million euros, up 3.5% year-on-year, driven in particular by the increase in port taxes and anchorage dues. On the operational front, the Authority recalls that the Eastern Adriatic system handled more than 64 million tonnes of goods in 2025.<\/strong> In this framework, the container segment showed weaker dynamics, offset however by strong growth in Ro-Ro traffic, consolidating Trieste\u2019s position as Italy\u2019s leading port in short sea shipping, and by the increasingly central role of rail transport. In parallel, implementation of the infrastructure plan continues, supported by NRRP resources, state funding and the Authority\u2019s own funds. The main interventions include the expansion of the Pier VI root, the new Campo Marzio rail layout, the electrification of berths in the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone, and the development of plants for the production of energy from renewable sources.<\/strong> Investments in sustainable logistics are also significant, such as charging infrastructure for electric port vehicles, as are those for operational expansion, including the acquisition and development of areas in the Noghere valley and the modernisation of the Pier VII container terminal<\/strong>. These are joined by works for the maintenance and upgrading of the port railway network.<\/strong> Among the next strategic objectives is Pier VIII, for which the Authority aims to award the tender by the end of the year.<\/strong> A key project for the future of the port, whose competitiveness \u2013 Consalvo highlighted \u2013 has a direct impact on the national economy<\/a> and a relevance extending to the entire European context.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
