The issue was also central during the election campaign, in which <strong>the centre-right candidate had announced his intention to retain direct responsibility for the port<\/strong>, considered strategic for the economic future of the city and of Porto Marghera.<br \/>\nThe <strong>president of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, Matteo Gasparato<\/strong>, stressed that the future of the Veneto port system is \u00abinextricably linked\u00bb to cooperation with local administrations. Gasparato congratulated Venturini and the newly elected mayor of Cavallino-Treporti, Roberta Nesto, highlighting the working relationship already established in recent months with both.<br \/>\nAccording to the president of the Port Authority, \u00abpositive and loyal dialogue between institutions\u00bb is the basis for addressing the future challenges facing Veneto\u2019s ports, both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Venice Port Community also welcomed the election of the new mayor. Its president, Davide Calderan<\/strong>, reiterated the port community\u2019s willingness to continue dialogue with the municipal administration, referring in particular to the commitment made by Venturini during the public meeting organised on 6 May by Venice Port Community and Confindustria Venezia.<br \/>\nOn that occasion, the new mayor had stated that he would personally retain responsibility for the port, a move interpreted by operators as a sign of attention towards Venice\u2019s maritime and logistics sector. Calderan also recalled Venturini\u2019s support for the <strong>main infrastructure dossiers concerning the port of Venice, from access channels to the Tresse 2 project, as well as nautical accessibility, the Marittima terminal and the MOSE.<\/strong><br \/>\nFor Venice Port Community, <strong>the port represents \u00abthe only real alternative to tourism\u00bb for Venice\u2019s economy<\/strong>, a sector which \u2014 it stressed \u2014 must continue to develop without disregarding the protection of the local area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TRIESTE &#8211; Simone Venturini is the new mayor of Venice and the port sector has immediately sent its first messages of support and cooperation.
