TRIESTE –<\/strong> The tender for the construction of the new Servola railway station<\/a> is expected to be published by 30 June.<\/p>\n

This indication emerged during the conference “Port and rail, the challenge for Trieste”, held yesterday to discuss the role of the railway system in the development of the port of Trieste and freight connections towards Central Europe.<\/p>\n

The most awaited news came from Natale Ditel, secretary general of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, who explained that the decree from the Ministry of Economy and Finance is still awaited<\/strong> in order to proceed with the tender for the Servola railway station, an infrastructure considered strategic for supporting the growth of the port\u2019s rail traffic.<\/p>\n

Also speaking at the conference was Tommaso Tanzilli, president of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, who described Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia as strategic hubs not only for Italy but for Europe as a whole.<\/strong> Tanzilli underlined the geopolitical value of the regional territory and assured the railway group\u2019s commitment even beyond the season of investments financed by the NRRP. The FS president recalled the high number of railway construction sites currently open in the country, stressing that strengthening infrastructure is a priority in order to improve the competitiveness of national logistics.<\/p>\n

During the debate, Ditel also drew attention to the prerogatives of Trieste\u2019s international Free Port<\/strong>, an issue that continues to represent a distinctive element for the Friuli Venezia Giulia port. The objectives indicated also include the expansion of fast corridors towards regional interports<\/strong>, in line with the development of Friuli Venezia Giulia\u2019s logistics platform and with the growing integration between port, rail and inland logistics facilities.<\/p>\n

There was also reference to infrastructure criticalities. Ditel in fact mentioned the planned closure of the Tarvisio railway line<\/a> during the month of August, asking Ferrovie dello Stato to pay particular attention to limiting the impact on freight traffic. This is an issue on which, it was recalled during the meeting, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region is already working to identify alternative solutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
