The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by <strong>Eugenio Santagata, general manager of Fincantieri\u2019s Naval Vessels Division, and Norman Joesoef, president and founder of Republikorp<\/strong>, Indonesia\u2019s largest private holding company active in the defence sector, through its subsidiary PT Republik Palindo Internasional (RPAL).<\/p>\n<p>The agreement provides for the establishment of <strong>a joint venture aimed at supporting the development of Indonesia\u2019s national shipbuilding industry and launching long-term industrial cooperation.<\/strong> For Jakarta, this represents a further step towards greater strategic autonomy in the defence sector, leveraging the technological and industrial expertise of the Italian group. The cooperation will concern the construction in Indonesia of <strong>different types of naval units designed to meet the operational needs of the archipelago.<\/strong> These include LPD and LHD amphibious ships, multirole frigates and corvettes, patrol vessels for surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone, fast attack craft and submarines.<\/p>\n<p>One of the central elements of the agreement is the transfer of technologies and know-how. Fincantieri will contribute to the development of local capabilities through engineering cooperation activities, <strong>training programmes and the progressive strengthening of expertise in naval design, systems integration and production processes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00abIn line with the cooperation already launched with the Indonesian Navy, this MoU represents a further step in consolidating a long-term strategic partnership between Fincantieri and Indonesia. Leveraging our expertise in the construction of highly complex naval units and in systems integration, we intend to contribute to the development of local industrial capabilities and to the creation of a more resilient maritime ecosystem.
