The programme aims to develop and validate new concepts for the integrated use of naval, land, air, space and underwater assets through advanced digital networks and autonomous systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The tests took place at the Torre Veneri military range, near Lecce, and on board the naval units involved in the exercise. The final demonstration was attended by senior Defence officials and, for Fincantieri, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Pierroberto Folgiero, General Manager of the Naval Vessels Division Eugenio Santagata, and Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri NexTech Alessandro Concialini.<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> The most significant outcome of the trials was the <strong>validation of the Foundational Digital Platform (FDP), developed by Fincantieri NexTech.<\/strong> This <strong>software platform enables a wide range of systems to communicate and operate together, including ships, drones, radar, communication networks, sensors, and command-and-control systems.<\/strong> By collecting and sharing information in real time, it enhances operational awareness and supports faster, more effective decision-making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Fincantieri, the results confirm the Group&#8217;s role as a <strong>Lead System Integrator<\/strong>, capable of designing and integrating naval platforms, command-and-control systems, terrestrial and satellite communication networks, sensors and unmanned systems into a single interoperable architecture.<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> During the trials, the <strong>IMPERIO command-and-control system, the Raptor unmanned surface vehicle, the X-VTOL aerial drone, the Underwater Management System for unmanned underwater vehicles,<\/strong> an <strong>integrated naval Cyber Range and several software applications supporting situational awareness<\/strong> were successfully tested.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The exercise also validated <strong>an integrated communications network based on 5G technology and medium-Earth orbit (MEO) and low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite links,<\/strong> enabling resilient communications even in highly complex operational environments.<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Among the technologies achieving the most significant results was <strong>OMEGA360, Fincantieri&#8217;s new X-band 4D digital radar.<\/strong> The sensor provides full 360-degree coverage and is designed to detect, track and classify both airborne and surface targets, with a particular focus on drones. During the trials, it served as the core component of <strong>an integrated Counter-UAS (C-UAS) system,<\/strong> successfully supporting every phase of the operational response, from target detection to neutralisation, in both naval and land-based multi-domain scenarios. The tests also confirmed the radar&#8217;s ability to integrate seamlessly with open command-and-control systems, unmanned platforms and interceptor
