The group has signed a contract amendment with OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) a contract amendment worth <strong>approximately 317 million euros<\/strong> that introduces new technologies developed by WASS, expands logistical support services<strong>,<\/strong> and brings forward the<strong>delivery of the fourth unit<\/strong> by two years<strong>, now scheduled for 2032 instead of 2034.<\/strong> <br \/>\nThe agreement covers the program for the four next-generation submarines currently under construction at the Muggiano shipyard and expands the scope of work entrusted to Fincantieri. Among the key new features is <strong>the integration\u2014for the first time on Italian submarines\u2014of countermeasure systems developed by WASS,<\/strong> a group company specializing in advanced underwater systems. <\/p>\n<p>The agreement also calls for an <strong>expansion of logistical support activities<\/strong>, with the goal of ensuring the units\u2019 full operational efficiency over the long term. Thanks to the program revision, the Italian Navy will be able to receive a new submarine every year starting in 2029, with deliveries scheduled for the four-year period from 2029 to 2032.<br \/>\nAccording to Fincantieri, the U212 NFS program represents a significant evolution compared to the current U212A submarines. The new submarines will incorporate a greater share of domestic technology, including lithium-ion propulsion batteries and a new combat system\u2014solutions that will improve stealth, range, operational efficiency, and cyber resilience. <\/p>\n<p><strong>The agreement also strengthens the group\u2019s strategy in the underwater sector<\/strong>, which is considered one of the main areas of industrial and technological growth.
