{"id":40436,"date":"2026-07-22T18:30:32","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T16:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/uncategorized\/msc-with-medlog-enters-the-bologna-interport\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T18:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T16:44:08","slug":"msc-with-medlog-enters-the-bologna-interport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/msc-with-medlog-enters-the-bologna-interport\/","title":{"rendered":"MSC (with Medlog) Enters the Bologna Interport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TRIESTE \u2014<\/strong> The acquisition <strong>of a stake in Interporto Bologna by<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medlog.com\/it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medlog Holding Italia<\/a>, a company of <strong>the MSC Group,<\/strong> marks one of the key outcomes of the shareholders\u2019 meeting, which approved the 2025 financial statements and the full subscription to the capital increase.<\/p>\n<p>The shareholders\u2019 meeting, held today, approved the financial statements and confirmed the completion of the capital increase approved in December 2024. This capital strengthening was supported by several long-standing shareholders\u2014the Metropolitan City of Bologna, the Bologna Chamber of Commerce, and Mercitalia Rail\u2014and, above all <strong>,<\/strong> by the entry of <strong>Medlog Holding Italia, a company specializing in logistics and rail and road freight transport that is part of the MSC Group.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>For<a href=\"https:\/\/www.interporto.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Interporto Bologna<\/a>, this is a strategic move, as Medlog is already one of the rail terminal\u2019s main customers for maritime intermodal traffic. The entry of a leading industrial operator aims to <strong>bolster the development of rail services and intermodal transport, thereby strengthening the intermodal terminal\u2019s role as a national and international logistics hub.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p><strong>Chairman Stefano Caliandro emphasized that the new public-private corporate structure, together with the collaboration with the FS Group and Medlog, will make it possible to accelerate the business plan, increase rail freight volumes, and support the company\u2019s growth initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the same time <strong>,<\/strong> infrastructure investments are continuing. <strong>The expansion of the rail terminal is underway,<\/strong> which includes extending the platform by 115,000 square meters, adding 750 meters of new tracks, and installing new gantry cranes. The project is expected to be completed by 2026. <\/p>\n<p>Interporto Bologna is also strengthening its network of partnerships within the Emilia-Romagna logistics system. Among the most recent initiatives are the establishment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/ravenna-in-emilia-romagnas-new-rail-pact\/\">ROLER\u2014the Emilia-Romagna Logistics Operators Network\u2014in collaboration with Dinazzano Po, SAPIR, and Rail Traction Company<\/a>\u2014to promote rail freight transport and integration with the Port of Ravenna and the Brenner Corridor\u2014as well as the renewal of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adriaports.com\/en\/logistics\/renewal-of-the-agreement-between-emilia-romagna-the-port-of-ravenna-and-interporti\/\"> the ER.I.C. protocol dedicated to the development of regional intermodality.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>From a financial standpoint,<strong> the 2025 financial statements show a production value of 12.44 million euros<\/strong>. The fiscal year once again ended with a loss, a result the company attributes both to investments that are still maturing and to the 8% decline in rail freight transport in Italy and Europe during the 2022\u20132025 period.
