On 5 November 2020, when Europe and Italy were affected by the lockdown measures caused by the pandemic for Covid 19, the first intermodal train departed from Trieste for Nuremberg.<br \/>\nAlong the railway corridor of over 680 km, from November 2020 to April 2021, 1,400 units with time-sensitive goods were handled. Once disembarked in Trieste from Turkey, they need to arrive at their destination as quickly as possible.<br \/>\nA critical factor in this growth is the collaboration between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpeadria.com\">Alpe Adria<\/a> (the company developing intermodal transport services of the Port of Trieste) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfds.com\/en\/freight-shipping\">DFDS<\/a> (Danish group leader in Ro-Ro transport), in cooperation with Merci Italia Rail, the main national railway company.<br \/>\nThe next step will be to attract and manage the corridor volumes of containers just disembarked in Trieste from the mega-ships of the leading shipping line, coming from the Far East.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TRIESTE &#8211; The rail service
