MONFALCONE –<\/strong> Good first take. Today an operational cruise ship, the “MSCOrchestra”, has docked for the first time in Monfalcone.
Meanwhile, in Trieste the Bora advised postponing the mooring test to the Adriaterminal<\/a> in Porto Vecchio of the “Costa Deliziosa”, which has opted for safer docking at the Bersaglieri pier of the Maritime Station, not far from Piazza Unit\u00e0 d’Italia. The fire test has therefore been postponed to next Saturday to test the potential, from a logistical and port point of view, of what could become the cruise dock of the future: the old port<\/strong> of the city.
Therefore, this morning, two large passenger vessels were moored on the banks of Trieste: the “Costa Deliziosa” and the “MSC Splendida”. Moreover, a fourth unit is expected in Porto Rosega, Monfalcone, tomorrow, Sunday 11 July: the “Msc Magnifica”. The stopovers of “Orchestra” and “Magnifica” were confirmed for the following weekend, July 17 and 18. The cruise ships were “diverted” to the ports of Monfalcone and Trieste from Venice<\/strong>, where they will not be allowed to enter as the G20 economy is underway in the lagoon capital.
It is estimated that at the end of the weekend, about 9000 passengers there will be passing through Trieste and Monfalcone.
The operations took place regularly, and the mayor of Monfalcone, Anna Maria Cisint, greeted the event with satisfaction, ready to board the ship for a visit and welcome Captain, crew and guests on behalf of the municipal administration of Monfalcone. The president of Trieste Passenger Terminal Gianluca Madriz, the president of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Zeno D’Agostino, the Director manager of MSC, Pier Paolo Scala, the commander of the ship “Orchestra “, Nicola Gravante, and the commander of the Port Authority of Monfalcone, Captain of Frigate Giovanni Nicosia were also present (in the photo).
“This is the first time for cruises in Monfalcone – commented Cisint -: it went very well, and we are greatly satisfied for having believed in it”. “If Venice says no to cruise ships – continued the mayor – we are ready”. The mayor also underlined the positive economic effects for the area linked to the presence of cruise ships. “Only for these calls – reported Cisint – MSC has hired 30 young people and 20 of these people are going to be confirmed.
