TRIESTE – The Port of Koper has recently inaugurated two key infrastructures to support the growth of automotive traffic and value-added vehicle services.
The new “6A” storage area and a 900-square-meter workshop operated by Avtoservis d.o.o. — a company specialized in vehicle customization, preparation, PDI, and other automotive services — are now officially in service.
Storage area 6A can accommodate up to 3,500 vehicles and includes 52 truck loading ramps and 21 charging stations for electric vehicles. Completed in early June after one year of construction, the facility is part of a broader development plan that also includes areas 5A, operational since 2023, and 7A, whose construction will begin in the coming months. Together, these developments will increase the terminal’s total capacity by around 10,000 parking spaces. A small building for logistics support and worker rest has also been built.
The second newly opened facility is the Avtoservis workshop, covering 900 square meters and featuring eight workstations for the installation and modification of vehicle equipment. The building was designed with sustainability in mind, using insulated materials, renewable energy systems, and a 144 kW rooftop photovoltaic plant connected to the port’s internal power grid.
“Our success is built on a clear development vision, years of experience and expertise, but above all on a team of extremely diligent, reliable, and skilled collaborators. It’s thanks to them that we are recognized internationally for our excellent service and wide range of value-added offerings, which we continuously adapt to meet market demands, as well as those of our business partners and clients,” said Nevenka Kržan, Chair of the Management Board of Luka Koper, adding that this was the motivation behind founding Avtoservis Koper in 1995.
The vehicle and Ro-Ro terminal at the Port of Koper, managed by Luka Koper, is one of the largest in the Mediterranean and ranks among the top four most efficient in Europe for vehicle transshipment. Avtoservis Koper, which provides vehicle assistance services for clients and partners, is a key part of the terminal’s operations.
