TRIESTE – A fire broke out this afternoon at the Molo VII container terminal in the Port of Trieste.
The blaze involved a reach stacker, a lifting vehicle used for handling containers. To extinguish the flames engulfing the machine, a team of firefighters, the duty officer and a fire engine were dispatched from the via D’Alviano station at around 3 p.m. No one was injured in the incident. Firefighting operations, which required an additional support tanker, also involved the use of foam. A dense column of smoke was visible from several parts of the city.
