TRIESTE – Fincantieri will build for the Italian Navy a reconfigurable supply vessel designed also for subsea operations, aimed at strengthening national capabilities.
Fincantieri, through the Underwater Technology Hub, will supply the Navy with a support unit engineered to adapt to multiple operational roles. The vessel features a flexible configuration enabling rapid adjustments according to mission requirements. Its intended functions include subsea activities, supported by technical spaces designed to integrate dedicated systems.
The unit will undergo a work package at the Palermo shipyard, where it will be converted into an advanced platform integrated with national technological capabilities. The project aligns with the Group’s strategy to strengthen Italy’s presence in the maritime domain with modular and scalable solutions.
«This project demonstrates Fincantieri’s role as a technological enabler serving the Country System, combining operational speed, innovation and industrial vision. Through versatile and reconfigurable solutions, particularly in the subsea domain, we continue to enhance our ability to respond – commented Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri – in an integrated and effective manner to the needs of the Italian Navy, contributing to the development of increasingly strategic technological sovereignty for Italy».
