TRIESTE – Over the past three years, FHP Group has invested €16 million in the Port of Venice, focusing on sustainability, fleet renewal and job growth.

In Porto Marghera, the group concentrated a significant share of the measures, with €6.7 million invested over the past year and 30 new hires over the three-year period, ten of them in 2025. The strategy – the company said in a media note – focused on rejuvenating the vehicle fleet and introducing hybrid and full-electric solutions, backed by advanced safety systems designed to reduce interference between people and machines.

FHP operates between the port of Venice and the port of Chioggia with around one million square metres of operating areas, 26,000 square metres of covered warehouses and more than four kilometres of quays with depths exceeding 11 metres. The infrastructure also includes 35.9 kilometres of internal tracks and four silos for bulk storage, making the terminals a key node in trade flows between Italy and abroad.
«We are present in Venice and Chioggia with three main “breakbulk (bulk cargo)” terminals: FHP Terminal Venezia, Transped and FHP Terminal Chioggia. Thanks to 200 specialised employees we can handle over 4.5 million tonnes a year,» explains Executive Director Mauro Marchiori. «We can handle the goods we deal with only thanks to our employees’ multitasking skills, which are our real added value. Their know-how – adds Marchiori – allows us to work on project cargo one day, steel the next, and flour the day after, moving across different segments and offering opportunities to Italian and foreign customers alike».

Marchiori also stressed the link between port activities and the local area: «Our activities are strongly connected to the “know-how” of the people who work with us. The adoption of equipment and technologies is aimed at enhancing the skills of those who have chosen FHP and our port to find fulfilment not only professionally, but also on a human level, building their lives here. Over the past three years alone we have added 30 new hires, bringing our organisation to more than 200 employees. All of them live locally and contribute to the social fabric».

Alongside industrial investments, the group has also strengthened its social commitment, directly involving workers. «This year, employees shared the company’s idea of supporting the hospitals of Mestre and Chioggia (the paediatric oncology and oncology wards), as well as Avapo, the volunteer association that supports the care of oncology patients. It is a tangible way in which we wanted to give back for what we receive every day from our professional activity. We believe that anyone operating in an area should also support it, starting from the most fragile realities. I can only thank all employees for choosing to allocate part of the annual bonus to this activity, which shows how integrated our workforce is with society».
