TRIESTE – Tomaso Cognolato will remain at the helm of Assiterminal for the 2026-2028 three-year term. The assembly, meeting in Rome, unanimously reappointed the outgoing president, also renewing the governing bodies of the association representing Italy’s port-terminal sector.
Antonio Barbara, CEO of HHLA Plt Italy in Trieste, and Giancarlo Russo, executive director of FHP Monfalcone, are among the vice-presidents of the new Presidency Committee.
The association’s Executive Council was also renewed.

During the assembly, the 2025 final accounts were approved, showing a progressive improvement in the association’s financial position. Assiterminal also announced that it had exceeded 110 member companies, with its membership base growing by more than 30% over the past two years.
“I would first of all like to thank the members for their renewed trust and the entire Assiterminal team for the great work carried out in recent years,” Cognolato said, underlining how the association has consolidated its role as an interlocutor for the national port and logistics system.
Tomaso Cognolato highlighted the entry of FS Logistix (FS Italiane Group) among the association’s members, describing it as an important signal towards greater integration between port terminals, rail logistics and intermodality.
