TRIESTE – The company 2TDK has delivered a new road-rail firefighting vehicle to the Sežana Fire Brigade, to be used mainly for emergencies along the new railway line between Divača and Koper.

The special vehicle was acquired by the company responsible for building the new line and will be used mainly for operations inside the railway tunnels of the new infrastructure. It is one of the most advanced vehicles in its category, capable of travelling both on roads and on railway tracks, allowing rapid access to the most difficult areas to reach in the event of an emergency.

The purchase of the vehicle is part of the overall safety system planned for the new railway line. The need to equip the Koper and Sežana fire brigades with two specialised vehicles had already been identified during the design phase of the project. The vehicle is equipped with an additional rail undercarriage, water and foam tanks, systems for detecting dangerous gases and high temperatures, a thermal camera and numerous pieces of equipment dedicated to firefighting and rescue operations in tunnels. One of its most significant features is also an air reserve that allows a team of six operators to be evacuated safely even in particularly critical conditions.

Another road-rail vehicle had been delivered in December to the Gasilska brigada Koper, the Koper Fire Brigade.
