TRIESTE – Nlcomp, the Monfalcone-based company specialising in sustainable composite materials, has taken another step in its growth by announcing the entry of Ocean Srl into its shareholding structure and the inauguration of its new rFactory at Lisert, scheduled for Friday, 24 July.
Ocean’s investment, made by the long-established maritime company led by Michela Cattaruzza, comes through a capital increase and completes the reorganisation of the company’s ownership structure, which now includes, alongside the founding shareholders, Samer & Co. Shipping and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Venture Capital, through the Cleantech Accelerator.
The new rFactory will be officially inaugurated during a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on 24 July. During the tour of the facility, the new Offshore 34 will be showcased for the first time, with its official launch scheduled for October. «Our investment in Nlcomp,” said Michela Cattaruzza of Ocean, “is driven by two complementary objectives. On the one hand, we are supporting a young local company that, like us, has the sea in its DNA and is accelerating the transition towards increasingly sustainable practices. On the other, we are investing in a sector we know extremely well. This enables us to be a valuable partner for Nlcomp, supporting its market development while benefiting from its future research and development activities.»
For Nlcomp, Ocean’s entry represents an opportunity to accelerate the development of workboats, a segment that is increasingly required to reduce its environmental impact through the adoption of new materials. The company is focusing on its proprietary rComposite® technology, a recyclable material with a circular life cycle validated by DNV in accordance with ISO 14021:2016. «The entry of Ocean into our shareholder structure,” said Chief Executive Officer Fabio Bignolini, “marks an important milestone for our project. As we approach the inauguration of our Monfalcone factory, we are advancing in the recreational boating sector through the production of boats and components, developing our first projects in the wind energy sector and, with Ocean’s support, entering the workboat market.»
Bignolini also highlighted the strategic value of the new partnership: «Ocean brings extensive knowledge of the workboat market and many years of experience in managing professional vessels in the port and maritime sectors, which represents significant added value for us.»
