TRIESTE – Fincantieri has strengthened its bid for the Croatian Multi-Role Corvette (MRC) programme by signing two memoranda of understanding with Brodotrogir Cruise and Iskra Shipyard, aiming to increase the involvement of the local shipbuilding industry.

The agreements were signed as part of the Italian group’s participation in the programme launched by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia for the procurement of two Multi-Role Corvettes. The signing ceremonies took place at the headquarters of the two companies in the presence of Mauro Manzini, Vice President Sales of Fincantieri’s Naval Vessels Division, Mateo Tramontana, CEO of Brodotrogir Cruise, and Roko Vuletic, President of the Management Board of Iskra Shipyard. In March, the Slovenian group controlling the Šibenik shipyard acquired “3. maj 1905”, taking ownership of the historic Rijeka shipyard with a bid of €6.665 million.

The memoranda establish a framework for cooperation to assess the involvement of Croatian companies in the design, engineering and construction of the naval vessels. The objective is to combine Fincantieri’s expertise with the industrial capabilities of local partners, fostering technology and know-how transfer while increasing the programme’s domestic industrial content.

According to Fincantieri, the initiative is part of the group’s international strategy, based on the creation of long-term industrial partnerships and the strengthening of local supply chains. In Croatia, the agreements are intended to support the development of the national shipbuilding industry and create new opportunities for localising production activities. The initiative also forms part of the broader cooperation between Italy and Croatia in the defence sector, confirming the group’s commitment to strengthening industrial and technological collaboration between the two countries.
