TRIESTE – The M.A.R.E. FVG project is taking shape with formal interest from new major industrial groups and is strengthening as a regional industrial policy choice.

The announced entry of Leonardo and AcegasApsAmga into the M.A.R.E. FVG cluster marks an important step in the evolution of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s industrial system. This was underlined by the regional councillor for Labour, training, education, research and universities, Alessia Rosolen, who spoke of a clear and coherent strategy based on integration between value chains already linked today by shared technologies and skills.
Leonardo’s interest, expressed through a letter from CEO Roberto Cingolani, fits into a path already under way that has seen Fincantieri, Danieli and Eurolls also join or signal their intention to join. A group of players that confirms the multidomain approach of the new cluster.

According to the Region, the value of the operation lies not only in the presence of major players, but in the ability to generate concrete spillovers across the entire regional production system, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. The goal is to create an ecosystem where industry, research and innovation work in an integrated way, supporting the development of advanced value chains.
M.A.R.E. FVG represents the evolution of the Cluster Mare Friuli Venezia Giulia into a multisector structure that brings together the sea economy, aerospace and aeronautics, renewable energy, and areas linked to hydrogen and digital technologies. A transformation designed to strengthen regional competitiveness and build a long-term development trajectory.

A key step was 2 July 2025, when the shareholders’ meeting approved the statutory changes needed to widen the cluster’s scope and bring in new members. In parallel, a draft Strategic Plan was prepared, which will be assessed by M.A.R.E. FVG’s new governing bodies, currently being defined.
In the first months of 2026, the shareholders’ meeting is expected to be convened to approve the new Board of Directors. Next will come the go-ahead for the Strategic Plan and the appointments of the Scientific Committee and the Industrial Committee, completing the cluster’s governance setup.
