TRIESTE – New industrial investment at Porto Marghera for Alkeemia, which has obtained authorisation from the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority to build a new grinding line at its plant in via della Chimica, in the former petrochemical area.

The project, authorised under the procedures of the Simplified Logistics Zone (ZLS), concerns the expansion of the GG1 section through a new line dedicated to anhydrite grinding, which will be added to the existing plants to increase production capacity for ground gypsum destined for the cement industry.

According to the information released, the investment exceeds one million euros and also aims to improve the plant’s overall efficiency. Alkeemia operates at Porto Marghera as a supplier to leading manufacturers in the construction sector that use gypsum as an additive to regulate cement setting times.

From a technical standpoint, the project involves the expansion of existing structures with no consumption of new land and no changes to the intended use of the areas. New concrete foundations on bored piles will be built to support the steel structure that will house the new production line.

The Port Authority described the expansion of an industrial operator already established in Marghera’s port hinterland as strategic, also highlighting the use of the rail system to distribute most of the company’s products.

The president of the Port Authority, Matteo Gasparato, highlighted the role of the ZLS as a lever to attract industrial and logistics investment to north-eastern Italy. According to data provided by the Port Authority, 24 projects have already been authorised under the Simplified Logistics Zone, with a total value of 280 million euros, while further projects are under development. Gasparato also noted that 1,442 companies linked to the industrial, logistics and port system of the Venice area currently operate at Porto Marghera.
