TRIESTE – The first semester of 2021 displays a decrease in the volumes handled at Trieste Marine Terminal compared to the first semester of 2020.
In particular, the company underline a growth (+15%) of full container but -39% on the empty container handlings, for a total of 315.381 teus handled, overall -7.5% less than 2020.
On the contrary, the rail results are promising: the semester registers +10.6% of the volumes moved from/to TMT to/from its markets of reference in Central and Eastern Europe and Northern Italy.
Regarding project cargoes, two items weighing 95 tons each were discharged from a CMA-CGM container ship. Subsequently, 4 items weighing 160 tons each were loaded on the same vessel, allowing regular dry cargo operation to be carried out.
The exceptional loading performed at TMT has set a new weight record in the history of project cargo handling on a container ship in Italy.
