TRIESTE – Emergency response this morning at the port of Trieste, where a person taken ill aboard the icebreaker Laura Bassi was evacuated with the aid of a quayside crane.
The operation, carried out shortly before 8.30 at the former Arsenale San Marco, involved the Fire Brigade in support of 118 emergency medical personnel. The patient was transported on a stretcher from the cabin to the deck and then lowered to the ground using a personnel basket. The evacuation was carried out according to procedures already defined between the Trieste Fire Brigade command and the Port System Authority, confirming the effectiveness of emergency management protocols in the port area.
