VENICE – The new automated gate for truck exits at Venice’s Vecon terminal has entered service. The system covers outbound trucks carrying containers and represents the first phase of a broader project that envisages extending automation to inbound flows as well within two years. The introduction of the automated gate makes it possible to identify vehicles without manual intervention, reducing waiting times and improving the fluidity of exit operations at the terminal.

Safety and traceability are also improved, thanks to more accurate control of data linked to vehicle movements. At the core of the system is the integration of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technologies, enabling the automatic reading of number plates and container codes, making truck passage through the gates faster. The project forms part of PSA’s investment plan for the Venice terminal, with the aim of making operating processes more efficient and managing the growth in logistics flows in a more structured way.
