TRIESTE – Fincantieri closed 2025 with the highest profit in its history and a sharply higher backlog, supported by record new orders and solid demand across all segments.
Net profit reached €117 million, more than quadrupling from €27 million in 2024. Revenues rose 13.1% to €9.19 billion, while EBITDA increased 33.9% to €681 million, with a margin of 7.4%.
The most significant figure, however, concerns the order book. Backlog stood at €41.1 billion, up 32.7% year on year, while total workload (including soft backlog) reached a record €63.2 billion.
This volume guarantees about 4.5 years of activity considering backlog alone, and about 6.9 years including options and contracts at an advanced stage.
From an industrial standpoint, the portfolio includes 97 ships, with deliveries scheduled through 2036 (2037 including agreements signed in 2026).
In detail, backlog is concentrated mainly in shipbuilding (more than 80%), but with significant contributions also from the offshore, underwater and systems segments.
On the financial side, net financial position remained negative at €1.31 billion on an adjusted basis, but improved compared with the previous year, also thanks to stronger capitalisation.
Pierroberto Folgiero, Fincantieri’s chief executive officer and general manager, highlighted the record results achieved in 2025, pointing to economic growth and the strength of the industrial model. He spoke of «double-digit growth in revenues and EBITDA» and «the best profit in our history» in a complex global context.
The CEO placed particular emphasis on the order book, recalling the «97 units currently in the portfolio» and delivery visibility through 2037, which ensures long-term prospects for the yards, especially in the cruise segment.
From a strategic standpoint, he identified two main directions: defence, with the doubling of production capacity in Italy, and the underwater sector, where the group is focusing on advanced technologies and supply-chain integration to build a distinctive offering.
Looking ahead, Folgiero said the 2026-2030 business plan is centred on production capacity and innovation, with greater integration between digital, maritime and underwater activities. The objective is to strengthen Fincantieri as a «leading industrial platform» in technologies linked to maritime security and the blue economy.
