TRIESTE – Fincantieri is strengthening its presence in Qatar with a new contract to manage the operations of the Qatari Navy’s Training and Simulation Center.
The three-year agreement expands the collaboration that began with the program that led to the construction and delivery of seven naval vessels to the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.
The training center, built and delivered by Fincantieri in 2021, is one of the main tools used by the Qatar Navy to train officers, noncommissioned officers, and sailors using advanced simulation systems. The exercises replicate realistic operational scenarios, allowing crews to handle complex situations without directly deploying the ships. The agreement was signed by the Chief of Logistics of the Qatari Armed Forces and by Mauro Manzini, Sales Director of Fincantieri’s Military Ships Division. The goal is to ensure the center’s operational readiness and support the ongoing training of naval personnel, while maintaining high standards of preparedness.
The activities will be carried out by a team composed primarily of former military personnel with experience in naval operations, platform management, and operational procedures. In addition to managing the center, Fincantieri personnel will gradually assist the Qatar Navy in the transfer of expertise, with the goal of making it increasingly self-sufficient in managing the infrastructure.
