TRIESTE – Vard, the Fincantieri Group’s Norwegian subsidiary, has signed a new contract with Ocean Infinity for the design and construction of four Multi-Purpose Robotic Vessels (MPVs). The overall value of the agreement exceeds €200 million.
The new MPVs are designed for complex, high-tech operations, with extensive use of robotic systems and remote operating capability. The contract includes an integrated supply by Vard Electro, which will deliver the full SeaQ suite for remote operations control and management, and by Vard Interiors, responsible for interior outfitting, with solutions focused on energy efficiency and crew comfort. Completing the technology package will be Seaonics, which will supply the LARS (Launch and Recovery System) for the deployment and recovery of ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) and geotechnical units, a key element for the advanced subsea activities envisaged for these vessels.
Two vessels will be delivered from Vard’s Norwegian yards in the first and second quarters of 2028, while the other two will be built at Vard Vung Tau’s facility in Vietnam, with delivery scheduled for the third and fourth quarters of the same year.
«In the era of unmanned vessels, this new contract with Ocean Infinity demonstrates Fincantieri and Vard’s ability to deliver pioneering solutions for the robotisation of the maritime industry. Our global production network and our technological leadership – said Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fincantieri – enable us to support world-class partners in their challenges, strengthening Fincantieri’s role as a benchmark and catalyst for disruptive innovation and operational excellence in the sector».
