TRIESTE – Adriafer Rail Services has launched a new intermodal shuttle service linking Opicina, the Port of Trieste and Gorizia (Sdag Interport).

The service is available for both wagons and intermodal units, connecting Trieste with the Gorizia Interport, where the maintenance workshop operated by Adriafer’s subsidiary is already active. Units can be stored on site or unloaded for cargo processing when required. The initiative takes advantage of the trains that were already being transferred from Trieste to Gorizia for maintenance, creating mixed trains to optimise costs.

ARS announced that the new connection will run weekly and has a clear goal: making the logistics system of the Trieste port district increasingly efficient and competitive. At a time when the Trieste logistics hub is experiencing significant congestion, the ARS shuttles represent a concrete opportunity to ease traffic flows and optimise cargo movements.
