TRIESTE – Fincantieri and the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources have signed in Riyadh a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the development of a high-tech and sustainable maritime ecosystem, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The agreement aims to foster industrial and technological cooperation between Italy and Saudi Arabia, with a focus on the transfer of skills and know-how to support the Kingdom’s industrial diversification. It outlines a framework for collaboration in the design, construction and maintenance of naval units as well as the development of dual-use offshore platforms and integrated projects in the maritime and infrastructure sectors.

The partnership also includes collaboration with specialized companies, universities and research centers, under the guidance of the Saudi Industrial Center, to strengthen training and skills development in areas such as advanced naval systems integration, smart shipyard technologies, green propulsion systems, digitalization and cybersecurity. For Fincantieri, the agreement consolidates its presence in Saudi Arabia and reinforces its role as a strategic partner of the Kingdom. Following the opening last May of Fincantieri Arabia for Naval Services offices in Riyadh, the Group continues along the path defined by its “Onda Lunga” industrial plan, centered on cooperation, innovation and technology transfer.

The new understanding adds to Fincantieri’s existing collaborations with key Saudi institutions such as the Saudi Red Sea Authority and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, contributing to the growth of the Kingdom’s maritime and industrial capabilities.

The agreement was signed by Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, and Saleh Shabab Al-Solami, CEO of the Industrial Center of the Ministry.

«This agreement marks a key milestone in our long-term strategy in Saudi Arabia. By combining Fincantieri’s global expertise – said Folgiero – with the Kingdom’s industrial vision, we are ready to build an advanced and sustainable maritime ecosystem, aligned with Vision 2030. We aim to play a leading role in Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation by investing in local skills development and in creating an innovative, self-sustaining supply chain. We want to generate lasting value for future generations and for the economies of both countries».
