TRIESTE – Metrans Group and Adria Port have launched a strategic partnership to strengthen the intermodal network connected to the future Port of Trieste. The aim is to make connections between the Mediterranean and Central-Eastern Europe more robust and competitive.
The cooperation between the Hungarian-registered company planning a new multipurpose terminal in the former Aquilinia refinery area (Muggia) and the HHLA-controlled company is designed to improve connection quality, increase capacity and ensure flexible infrastructure capable of supporting long-term growth. The two companies will also work on a stronger market presence through joint initiatives to increase regional visibility.
The agreement was signed by Peter Kiss, President and CEO of METRANS Group, and Péter Garai, CEO of Adria Port Zrt. «This partnership represents an important step towards building a modern, well-connected logistics hub capable of supporting traffic flows and attracting new investment», Adria Port said.
In recent days, the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Government, Massimiliano Fedriga, met with a delegation from the Hungarian Government. Participants included Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar, Deputy Defence Minister Tamás Vargha, State Secretary Péter Kis-Parciu and representatives of the Hungarian Consulate General in Milan.
«Hungary is an important partner for our country and for Friuli Venezia Giulia. We are already working together on initiatives involving strategic sectors such as ports and logistics, which could be further strengthened within the Indo-Mediterranean Corridor (Imec), the major infrastructure network linking Central and Southern Europe with the East and Far East», Fedriga said.
