TRIESTE – The last cruise ship of the season called at the Port of Koper in recent days.
It was a strong season overall (even though figures released by Luka Koper, the port authority, differ slightly from those published by the Municipality of Koper), and it ended with the imposing Nieuw Statendam, a 300-metre vessel operated by Holland America Line, carrying 2,581 passengers and nearly 1,000 crew members.
The Nieuw Statendam arrived from Trieste, made its first-ever call in Koper, and then sailed on towards the Dalmatian island of Korčula.

Over the course of 2025, the Port of Koper handled 80 cruise-ship calls, welcoming a total of 124,000 passengers (121,000 according to the Municipality), as well as around 57,000 crew members.
The year 2025 also marks 20 years of cruise tourism in Slovenia and, this summer, the inauguration of the new cruise terminal.

For 2026, a slightly lower number of calls is expected, with passenger numbers remaining largely unchanged. The first ship is scheduled to arrive on 4 January, while the peak of the season is expected between May and October.
