TRIESTE – A worker was seriously injured this afternoon at around 3:45 p.m. in the Cartubi shipyard area at the former Arsenal site in Via Von Bruck in Trieste.
The man was reached and secured by the Fire Brigade, who intervened together with emergency medical personnel (118). The response was triggered after a call reporting that a large-diameter pipe had struck a worker, causing thoracic and abdominal injuries, but most critically to the head. The team, arriving with the first-response unit, the multi-rescue van and the duty officer, reached the worker inside the work area. To extract him safely, a “tuboga” stretcher and alpine rescue techniques from the speleo-alpine-fluvial unit were used.
Once stabilised, the injured man was handed over to medical personnel and taken away by ambulance. The State Police and the Port Authority were also present at the scene. The man, a 43-year-old from Trieste, is hospitalised in serious condition at Cattinara Hospital.
