TRIESTE – Delivered today, Thursday 5 March, at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard, the Norwegian Luna, the second unit of the enlarged Prima Plus class built for US cruise operator Norwegian Cruise Line.

The ship marks a further milestone in the industrial partnership between the Italian shipbuilding group and the cruise giant controlled by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
Norwegian Luna follows her sister ship Norwegian Aqua, delivered in 2025, and is part of the brand’s new generation of vessels. The unit has a gross tonnage of around 156,000, a length of 321 metres and a capacity of about 3,550 passengers. Compared with the previous ships in the Prima class—Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, both also built by Fincantieri—the new ship is around 10% larger.

Key onboard innovations include new areas dedicated to entertainment and open-air spaces. Highlights include the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid between a roller coaster and a waterslide; the Glow Court, a digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor; the Luna Midway, an outdoor area inspired by amusement parks; and the Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course designed for families. The ship also features the Ocean Boulevard, the largest 360-degree outdoor promenade ever built by the company.

Construction of Norwegian Luna has involved around 3,000 people in recent months, including group employees and staff from supplier companies, confirming the strategic role of the Marghera yard in the large cruise-ship segment.
The delivery also comes shortly after the new agreement between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings for the construction of three new-generation cruise ships—one of which for the Norwegian Cruise Line brand—adding to the four units of the maxi-order announced in February 2025. Deliveries are scheduled between 2030 and 2037, further strengthening an industrial partnership that in recent years has become one of the pillars of global cruise shipbuilding.
