TRIESTE – New intermodal connection in the North Adriatic: Baltic Rail is expanding its network with a rail link between Poland and the port of Rijeka, strengthening logistics flows between Central Europe and the eastern Mediterranean.
The first train is scheduled to depart in week 18 and marks the launch of a direct non-stop service between Polish inland terminals and the Croatian port. The new connection complements the already consolidated operation to Koper, offering operators a strategic alternative along the Baltic-Adriatic axis.
The service will structurally connect three key logistics nodes in Central Europe (Wrocław, Katowice and Paskov), ensuring efficient routings to Rijeka and, from there, to the markets of the Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Far East.
From an operational standpoint, Baltic Rail is focusing on flexible frequencies, calibrated to demand and synchronised with the maritime connections of the port terminals. The aim is to strengthen the reliability of logistics chains and improve the planning of intermodal flows, in a context in which demand is growing for rail solutions that are competitive with road transport.
